Debate-In at Rendell's Philadelphia Office: Are Casinos Worth It?

Governor Rendell uses grossly inflated misleading numbers to push casino slot parlors into neighborhoods. Casino Industry studies never look at the costs of casinos,. We deserve the truth. Governor Rendell never calculates the hidden costs of casinos or even explored them. Independent research verifies that his claims of the benefits cannot be trusted. His own financial watchdog agency said the cost of casino-related law enforcement might be as high as $200 million per year, yet he budgeted $0 for such law enforcement.
We have called on Governor Rendell to engage in a debate and defend his casino numbers. Because he has refused our requests, we are forced to hold this debate-in.
A debate-in is simply like a rally or a sit-in – in this case to demand a full, public debate with the Governor at his Philadelphia office.
Some of us will be inside Rendell’s office to demand a debate on the cost/benefits of casinos. (If you’d like to join us inside, there is a training at the CFP office -230 N. 2nd St- on Wednesday, April 9th.)
Others will be in the lobby on the 11th floor outside the Governor’s office, or on the sidewalk passing out literature. Please come and be a part of our success at the first ever Debate-In at Governor Rendell's Philadelphia office to demand an answer to the question: Are casinos worth it?
