AN ORDINANCE
Designating the Family Court Building located at 1801 Vine Street as "The Judge
Nicholas A. Cipriani Family Court Building."
WHEREAS, Judge Nicholas A. Cipriani was elected to the Court of Common
Pleas in 1969 and distinguished himself through more than three decades of faithful
service to the children and families of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Judge Nicholas A. Cipriani served as Administrative Judge of the
Family Court Division from 1981 to 1989, and upon reaching retirement age, continued
to serve the people of Philadelphia as a senior judge and hearing master; and
WHEREAS, Judge Nicholas A. Cipriani was recognized nationally as an educator
in judicial administration, and legal issues involving children and families; and
WHEREAS, Judge Nicholas A. Cipriani was a mentor for younger attorneys and
an example for all lawyers; and
WHEREAS, Judge Cipriani selflessly devoted his time, energy, and effort to the
causes of justice, education, and community betterment; now, therefore
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The Family Court Building located at 1801 Vine Street shall be
named "The Judge Nicholas A. Cipriani Family Court Building."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
