Help us to send a message to our elected officials in City Council that we don't want them to be a Rubber Stamp for the Mayor. This past week the Rules of City Council were changed for the alleged sole purpose of weakening the Presidency of City Council.
"It is basically an unprecedented stripping of the power of the president, with the direct influence of the Mayor" said Democratic Council Member Jim Kenney. "I assume the Mayor wants no dissent, no questioning.I think that's very dangerous for the City and for the Council's independence" as quoted in the Philadelphia Daily News. Is this what we want? No dissent? No questioning? A rubber stamp?
Join with us and send a clear message to our elected members of City Council telling them that we would like to know more about how the proposed "Rules Change" affect us in our community. Ask them to explain to us, the citizens how this change can benefit their constituents. Ask them to hold off on this Rules Change or to retract to ensure a balance of power in Philadelphia.
