Trash Collection for Condo Owners (Bill # 010659)

Tell Council and the Mayor you want the same services for your tax dollars as other Philadelphians.

TRASH COLLECTION BILL - UPCOMING VOTE BY CITY COUNCIL

Dear Condo Owner:

After years of lobbying (and complaining), condominium homeowners may finally get municipal trash collection service. This is a major development in our ongoing struggle to obtain the same municipal services afforded single-family homeowners. Right now, you pay for trash collection through your taxes and you pay for private collection through your association.

City Councilman Jim Kenney, together with Councilmen David Cohen and Frank DiCicco, successfully took Bill No. 010659 out of Committee and before City Council. Bill No. 010659 is now due for a final vote before City Council on Thursday, June 6, 2002.

This legislation if passed, would require city sanitation trucks to pick up trash at condominium and cooperative buildings. As Councilman Kenney said, "this is a matter of simple fairness".

However, passage of the proposed legislation is far from certain. There are City Councilpersons who are undecided about their position on Bill No. 010659 and the Mayor has not committed to signing it, if it passes.

With your help, we can convince our Council representatives to pass this important piece of legislation.

Here is what you can do

The Philadelphia Condominium Managers Association is working hard to support passage of this legislation. If you wish further information, please contact the following persons on the PCMA, Trash Collection Committee:
