Boos, Cries of 'Shame' Greet City Council's New Rules
2004/01/05 With the addition of freshmen Councilmembers Ramos and Kelly, Councilmembers loyal to Mayor Street, the Mayor's allies now constitute a clear majority on Council. They wasted no time imposing their will on City Council's independents. New Rules for the Government of City Council were passed which strip Council President Verna of some of her more important powers, i.e., the ability to name committe chairs, giving it instead to a Committee dominated by the Mayor's allies.
