John Kerry asks to be our President
2004/10/25 Supporters of Presidential Candidate John Kerry turned out in droves today for Philadelphia's biggest political event of the year. Around 90,000 people lined the Parkway to listen to a succession of local big-wigs and then finally President Clinton and John Kerry make their case for a Democratic White House. National and international press were present for the event and all the attention seemed to unhinge some of the local politicians. Congressman Bob Brady ("we're on national TV!") did a jig with the City Controller. Earlier, Councilman Michael Nutter, normally the most reserved and punctilious of men, became a fiery preacher to the Democratic choir: "Are you ready for change? Tell me who you want again!"

City Controller Jonathan Saidel & Congressman Bob Brady do a jig
2004/10/25 Saidel and Brady were killing time. All the local pols got their 2-5 minutes in the national TV sun, but someone seemed to have miscalculated, and it was about 20 minutes between the end of the local pols' speeches and the time Kerry showed up.
