2003/07/16 Ever since the last fire, the Naval Home has had a security guard on premises 24/7 (note guard hut). Unfortunately, even round the clock security from Masso Security Group, Inc. was not enough to prevent a second fire at the Home.

Smoke billows from the Naval Home
2003/07/16 One neighbor reported a "funny smelling smoke in the early morning, but would never have thought it was the Naval Home again." In addition to 24 hour security the home is surrounded by a razor wire chain link fence.

Roof damage
2003/07/16 The second fire burned a hole in the roof. The original keel roof had survived the first five-alarm fire back in February.

City judge still considering need for roof repairs
2003/07/16 A closer view of damage to the surviving original roof. The City Law Dept. wants Toll Brothers to restore the roof to its original, pre-fire condition. Judge Seamus McCaffrey has yet to rule on the City's request which was made at a June 25, 2003 court hearing.
