| Subject: | Child support Nightmare |
I am a 29 year old mother of two. I work 4 jobs to support my
child because their father does not. I have be back and forth
over the past several years fighting with the courts for what
is owed to my children. He continues to not pay and does not
care. He owes over $23,000. Now the courts are telling me that
because he has not paid in over a year that they are putting
him to a balance of zero due to lack of verified income or
assets. I don't understand how they can do this. So my kids and
myself continue to suffer because he does not want to pay. I
could be working less and spending more time with my children
if I was getting what I'm suppose to from him. He should be put
in jail not walking away freely. I need some help. I do not
want him to walk away from this that easy. He should have to
stand up to his responsibility and pay. Anyway you can help
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time in
advanced Jillian New.

| Subject: | Halt Gallery Area Rezoning |
Dear Mayor Nutter and all Members of Philadelphia City Council:
I am writing to ask that you please halt all plans to rezone the
Gallery area of Center City for casino gambling. You need to be
reminded that you are public servants and that the public has
made its views clear on this issue. Add to this that
Philadelphia is much too significant historically to be
endangered by rezoning of this fashion. To rezone the Gallery
area for gambling would also greatly interfere with if not
jeapardize Philadelphia's extremely important goal of growing
greener. We cannot afford that risk. All plans to rezone the
Gallery area for gambling need to be fully scrapped therefore.
Respectfully,
Stephen E. Williams

I am outraged and appalled that the Philadelphia Department of
Public Health is signing a death sentence for thousands of
animals. The lifesaving achievements of the last three years
are to celebrated and furthered, not abandoned. We will not go
back to a time when most homeless animals are killed.
Classifying them simply as objects to be collected and disposed
of like garbage is unacceptable. We demand that the Health
Department rescind its current request for proposal for animal
control services and rewrite it to require lifesaving. The
agency that holds this contract must achieve progressive save
rates – with a starting place of 60% of the total number of
animals who enter the shelter alive, the current level – so
Philadelphia continues moving closer to the goal of
guaranteeing a home for every healthy and treatable pet. We
will not allow this city to turn its back on Philadelphia's

Please do not make this a "catch and kill" city for homeless
animals. They are not disposable but are living, breathing,
creatures full of emotions and feelings. I don't understand
why we can't keep things they way they are. Isn't progression
a positive thing in the city of Philadelphia? Increasing the
homeless animal survival rate from 11% to almost 70% is an
incredible acheivement. Why do you want to punish PACCA/PAWS
and the Philly residents for this wonderful accomplishment? It
just doesn't make any sense. Please reconsider.

To Whom it May Concern,
I'm writing this letter in regards to the recent "open bid"
for animal control in Philadelphia. While I do not live in
Philadelphia all of my family does. I am a Philadelphian at
heart. It frightens me that the public health department
considers lives be them human or not as so disposable that
they're even contemplating a "catch and kill" theory. I myself,
with the help of amazing foster parents, recently saved a dog
(his name is Kane, he's a boxer/dane mix found as a stray) from
th shelter life. While he is not perfect, and no human or
otherwise is, he's perfect to me. Had it not been for PAWS and
his foster parents we'd never have had the opportunity to own
such a wonderfully loving dog. Please do not employ the "catch
and kill" theory. Not only for the animals but for the sake of
humanity. What are we teaching the future by allowing
the "catch and kill" of thousands of animals? There are other
much better ways of dealing with animal control in this city.
Please PLEASE find a better way. For the animals sake and ours
as human beings.

I am very concerned at the news with regard to handing the
contract to the housing authority. We already see how they
handle everything and in military terms its an absolute
clusterf***k! We need to take stronger, more effective and
efficient steps to stop the killing of helpless innocent
animals. Pet stores should not be allowed to SELL cats or dogs
keeping puppy mills in business. Puppy mills need to be closed
especially those run by the Amish as they only seem them as
dollary signs. The papers, news, Oprah have clearly shown us
this and the deplorable situation they are kept in without care
to their lives or health. How many people are sold sick, dying
animals, the inbreeding, etc.
If we can't address this in the highest qualities showing
humanity and do it quickly and effectively when all it needs
are people with the backbone to speak the truth and act on what
does it say about all of us.
I volunteer along with many others who give up their personal,
spend their own monies, and its not enough as there are so many
animals. People who don't get their dogs neutered though the
cost charged by PAWS SPCA, etc is nominal bringing in puppies
after puppies - its pathetic and sick!
Seriously how we handle this as people who are supposed to be
more intelligent, caring, levels up on darwin's scale, religion
teachesus all life is to be valued, shows all just what we are
made of and our value! I often wonder life onothehr planets
watching us what do they think of us by how we conduct our
lives, handle situations esp. a situation like this. Think so
far shows we're pretty pathetic and really would we be worth
saving?!

Dear Council Members and Mr. Mayor,
I am writing today to respectfully ask that you act now upon
the rfp that was recently put out regarding animal control in
Philadelphia. I have written this letter numerous times in my
mind trying to find the most effective way to state my case. I
find that my calm factual letter often times becomes angry and
emotional and now I wonder if that isn't exactly the right way
to write this.
I've lived in Philadelphia most of my life and I am aware of
all of it's many political intrigues. I'm aware that the
public perception of our leaders has often been tarnished by
poor decisions ( nothing matches being away at college and
being mocked because our Mayor dropped a bomb and burned a
block down) or outright illegal behavior (too many bribes and
deals to mention). Those were bad decisions. Decisions that
people have had to live with for a lifetime. Our city's
reputation has been hard pressed to recover from those
actions. One action, taken in the heat of the moment, sad but
maybe understanable, the other a greedy and selfish decision
but certainly not well thought out. I'm an optimist though and
I love my city. I love that Mayor Nutter was elected and that
he is working with council and meeting with leaders of other
communities to see what he can do to make our city the best it
can be. I support the city of Philadelphia, it's businesses and
it's leaders.
I can not support the recent rfp that went out regarding the
animal control contract for the City of Philadelphia. The
wording is reprehensible and sickening. Animals are living,
breathing, loving beings who should not be viewed as something
to pick up and dispose of. The idea of 30,000 animals per year
being put down for no health reason, no behavioral reason, for
no other reason but a cheaper contract..a
well it makes me question my city, makes me question my elected
officials, my Council Members and my Mayor. I urge you to get
involved and ensure that this rfp is changed. That the
progress PACCA has made in recent years can continue to go on,
that the animals PACCA and PAWS have saved will not be the last.
I commend the employees of PACCA and the volunteers of PAWS,
they always have the animals best interests in mind and at the
heart of what they do.
Think of any pet you have ever had, of any friend with a
beloved pet, of a child's smile when they are playing with
their family dog or cat, of my daughter Kayla, who is bound and
determined to become an animal advocate at 11 because this just
can not be allowed to happen - think of all those things and
ensure that Philadelpia's animals are well served. A pet will
give you unconditional love, can you give them the chance at
life they deserve?
Sincerely,
Deanne Schmidt

I have been there a few times to volunteer and I see firsthand
how dedicated the people who work there and volunteer are to
trying to give each and every animal a chance for a better
life. I am upset that the language reads dispose of animals
instead of trying to save them.

| Subject: | Council Financial Conduct and that of Mr. Wilson Goode Jr. |
It is clear from activities that have taken place earlier this
month that Council is now quite familiar with that Wilson Goode
Jr.'s office has proven quite disrespectful to the people of
Philadelphia, its ethics laws, and to the watching public.
The illegal padding of hours by a subordinate aide to the
Councilman has shown a developing pattern of conduct consistent
with ethics violations emanating from the Councilman's office and
the public conduct of the Councilman has shown placation and
indifference towards those violations.
The aide's desperate attack at calling FOX29 News "racist" only
adds insult to injury.
What a desperate way to mislead people and hide from what is
clearly a case of public officials and staffers financially
benefiting from the public trust. It is no different if a
high-priced white lawyer from Sprauge pads hours or a $80K a year
aide to a councilman pads hours. The infraction is the same.
And to throw up a sign in Council claiming "racist!!!" when the
spotlight is shone on this crime just speaks volumes about how
city aids conduct themselves in the course of business doing the
work for the taxpayers.
My friends and Mr. Mayor... if Philadelphia does not fix its
financial problems soon, we are likely to fall into BANKRUPTCY.
There are no more Wall Street banks ready to lend us a huge
municipal bond to bail us out. Fitch and Moody's thinks the
City of Philadelphia already has enough debt.
And here we are with a culture of Pay to Play still going on, and
we have city staffers padding hours, bulging staffs, overtime
racking up, expense reports flowing, and nobody minding the store.
Mr. Mayor & Council, do you know what will happen to the City of
Philadelphia if it files for bankruptcy? Let's look at Anaheim,
California which recently did:
- The City's pension fund will fail and fall into the hands of a
receivership [freeing this debt off the City's books].
- PICA will likely be abolished and replaced with a new entity
from Harrisburg which will have direct control and approval
authority of ALL spending measures, overriding Council.
- Many pet spending programs (are you listening, Ms. Blackwell?)
will be culled.
- The bankruptcy of Philadelphia will lead to an reinvigorated
public in the next election cycle.
- Your political career with the City, as you know it now, will
likely end.
Go ahead. Let's continue to play games in City Council, and let
the eventual Bankruptcy of Philadelphia happen.
I can't wait to see all of your careers die.
Very Sorrowfully Yours,
Christopher Sawyer

I am appalled at the unprofessional conduct of Councilman Wilson
Goode's aide, Latrice Bryant, in City Council. She made a
mockery of City Council proceedings by holding and parading
around racially charged signs. If she is falsifying her time
sheets, she needs to be held accountable.
Councilman Goode's response to questioning was no better. "Don't
you ever disrespect a black woman like that again." I guess it's
OK to disrespect women of other races?
Latrice Bryant should be dismissed for fraud and theft.
Councilman Goode should be investigated for his part in the coverup.
Also, I vehemently oppose Councilman Goode's proposal to
eliminate the 2 minority at-large council seats.

I realize you are very busy but I'm hoping you may be able to
