The Commission voted to adopt the recommendations of the Finance Committee:
(A) Fairmount Park Commission Portfolio
To approve the following changes to our portfolio as recommended by our
investment advisor:
the consolidation of the Commission accounts and to have an accounting procedure
where each fund is given a share in the total combined accounts.
(B) Philadelphia Museum of Art Request to Lend sculptures from the Mastbaum
Collection.
To approve the Philadelphia Museum of Art request to lend the following
sculptures from the Mastbaum Collection:
The Thinker, Bronze, by Auguste Rodin
Two Hands, Bronze, by Auguste Rodin
Thought, Bronze, by Auguste Rodin
Crouching Women, Bronze, by Auguste Rodin

The sculptures will be insured on a wall-to-wall basis and accompanied by a

received a presentation by Paul Levy, Executive Director of the Central
Philadelphia Development Corporation, an update of the proposed, "Rethinking the
Benjamin Franklin Parkway".
The chair reported for information that Committee received the report of the
Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust regarding the "Conditions Assessment
and Treatment Recommendations" for the American Revolutionary War Memorial in
Washington Square.
The Commission voted to adopt the recommendations of the Planning Committee:
(A) Philadelphia Water Department
To grant approval to the Philadelphia Water Department proposed signage for the
Belmont Intake Protection Project.
(B) Natural Lands Restoration and Environmental Education Program
To grant approval for the conceptual design of Environmental Education and
Information Centers in East Park, Wissahickon Watershed, and FDR Park.

The Fairmount Park Commission received the report of Commissioner Syrnick on a
meeting of the Golf Committee who conducted a cursory inspection of Cobbs Creek
Golf Course on September 17, 1999.

The next scheduled meeting of the Commission will be held on Wednesday, November
10, 1999, 3:00 p.m., in the Commission Conference Room, Memorial Hall.
