Seven Years Late, Mary Mason Makes Financial Disclosure
By Ed Goppelt Monday, 09/16/02 (1032222627320)
Seven years into her job on the Fairmount Park Commission, Mary Mason filed her first Financial Disclosure Report. Mason was the only incumbent to have never filed a report (see Fairmount Park Commissioner Failed to Disclose Finances for Seven Years).

Mason currently sits on the board as Council President Anna Verna's representative, following the Board of Judges decision in May not to retain her. I wrote Mason and Verna a total of four letters, asking when Mason was going to file, but never heard back from either.

Mason's report, which appears to have been backdated to July 15, was received by the Department of Records on Thursday, September 12 the day after the most recent meeting of the Fairmount Park Commission.

At the meeting I raised the issue of Commissioners' legal responsibility to disclose their finances angering Commissioners Syrnick and Tucker. Both Tucker and Syrnick had filed.

Former Rec. Dept. Commissioner Mike DiBerardinis also filed his report. At this point the only Commissioner not to have filed is Doris Smith who is currently 75 days late.
