| Subject: | Grandson, Eric Shawn Respes |
Your Honor,
I am writing to you to tell you about my grandson, Eric, who is
currently incarcerated and will come before you soon. I know
that my grandson is a good person. He has always been an
obedient youngster and is growing into a good young man. His
down fall is that he has been in the company of others that are
not as good. In his neighborhood, his school you are pressured
into being "friends" with people you many not want to. He does
not steal from anyone. He has a very strong family base and we
give him what he needs and most of what he wants.
I have been to visit him and he is doing the best he can in
this situation.
The young man who did the crime was identified. The victim, the
detective, said he didn't do it. The description was young man
with braces and my grandson does not wear braces. This young
man who did do the crime was released and was picked up the
next day for doing the exact same thing. I think
that's "habitual".
I know that he has learned his lesson and wants to turn things
around for himself. He is 16 years old a very vulnerable age
where his life can go one of 3 ways; to live, to die or to be
jailed. We have lost others to the streets and we as a family
are striving to keep him safe.
Of course, our family is not whole because he is missing but he
is still alive and we will rejoice in that.
Thank you for your time your Honor. Please let my grandson
come home so that we can become whole again.

| Subject: | need your advice |
Hi Ben
Hope you Andy and Andrew are well.
You may have received this email several times as I keep getting
error messages. I spoke with someone in your office who said it
may be a security thing.
I need your advice. I recently received a $10,000.00 award for
an accident case. It's a long story but I was going out of town,
couldn't connect with the attorney so i put the check in my bank
for safe keeping until I returned to the city. Attorney did not
like that and said i committed mail fraud. I will cut/paste my
inttended reply to adjuster which will give you more insight.
The check was stopped but I just want to know how much trouble
I'm in.

Dear Ms. Perry
I beg your patience and indulgence as this letter is long and
reading it is probably not a priority on your list of things to
do. I ask that you would read it in it’s entirety as I believe
you were misled and given false information. The fact that the
information given was acted upon without my first be consulted
in an indication that the information was believed as true. For
this reason alone I must give a response.
I am writing this letter in response to a letter sent to you and
forwarded to me by Attorney Robert Wilson, with whom I believe
you are familiar. In the letter Mr. Wilson stated that he
requested that the $10,000.00 award check be stopped because my
husband and I both refused to give him the check to deposit into
his escrow account. If I may, I would like to clarify the
interaction between Mr. Wilson, my husband and me which brought
us to this unfortunate situation.
Important to note is that Mr. Wilson has not dealt with my
husband at any time through out the entire litigation until he
informed me that the award check was ready and “sitting in the
lawyer’s office ready to pick up.” He sent the release form to
me via his wife, as we are co-workers, indicating that we both
had to sign it in front of a notary and return to him. I called
Mr. Wilson and informed him that my husband was in the process
of some medical issues and signing the release had to be put off
for a week or maybe eight days. Mr. Wilson insisted that the
check should not “sit”, that we must get it signed so he could
go to the attorney’s office and pick it up that day. I relayed
this information to my husband. Because he had medical
procedures scheduled it was necessary for him to take a day off
work to meet with me to get the release notarized. I gave the
signed form to Mr. Wilson’s wife to return to him as he
instructed me. He said he was hand deliver the release on the
next day and come by with the check for us to sign. However, I
did not hear from Mr. Wilson the next day. After two days I
called Mr. Wilson and asked why I had not heard from him, at
which time he said “well, the check’s not ready.” I asked him to
explain and he said that he could only tell me what he was told
and that the check was not available. I reminded Mr. Wilson that
he had just told me two days earlier that the attorney had
called and said the check was sitting, waiting. Mr. Wilson said
that he was given incorrect information, that the attorney told
him one thing and “did something else.” But the check would be
ready either the coming Friday and definitely by the
following Monday. However, by Wednesday of the following week I
had not heard from him so I again called him. Again I was told
that he was picking up the check.
For a few days we did not communicate with each other. Then on
Tuesday July 18 his wife gave me a message that he was meeting
me at my job with check for me to sign. By 3:30 Mr. Wilson had
not shown and as I was preparing to travel to Indiana for my
family reunion, and my daughter and I had an appointment that we
could not break, I could not wait any longer. I asked his wife
to ask him to leave the check for me, I would come back after my
appointment, take the check home, my husband and I would both
sign it and I would bring it and give to her to give to him. She
agreed.
When my daughter and I were finished with our appointment I
dropped her at home. It was at this time that my husband
informed me that Mr. Wilson had called and made an 8:00 pm
appointment for this same night to me with us at our home to get
the check signed, at which time my husband expressed a concern
re: pay-outs Mr. Wilson mentioned. Mr. Wilson assured my husband
that he would explain all this upon his arrival. Mr. Wilson did
not show for the appointment he made with us. He called at
10:32pm and said that he could not make it because of the storm,
which at that time the storm was over and we were still waiting
for him. Mr. Wilson said “well I’m not coming out in the rain.”
I asked why he did not call earlier to which he said “it slipped
my mind.” At this point my husband became very agitated saying
that he did not feel right about the way Mr. Wilson was
treating me and planned to speak with him about it.
When I arrived at work on Wednesday morning the check was on my
keyboard along with a letter from Mr. Wilson. I checked to see
if the check was in the envelope but I did not read the letter.
I left work at 11:15 to take the check to my husband for his
signature. After reading the letter my husband became angry
because the letter contained a statement referring to the
payouts which he had said to Mr. Wilson he wanted to discuss
before signing the check. As I had to get back to work I could
not wait until my husband reached Mr. Wilson to discuss this so
I went back to work without the check thinking it would all get
sorted out. By Wednesday evening my husband still did not have
the answers he wanted.
On Thursday morning my husband signed check but told me before
giving it to Mr. Wilson, request a meeting with him so we could
all sit down and talk. Before I had a chance to speak with Mr.
Wilson, he and my husband had a conversation that proved
unfavorable and my husband was not satisfied with the answers he
was provided. Mr. Wilson left several messages for me which I
was not able to return until the early afternoon. In the
interim, I had the check on my person with signatures on it and
I was uncomfortable fearing if I dropped it or left it somewhere
it could be redeemed. So I went to my bank and asked if I could
deposit it for safe keeping, to which thy said yes. When I
finally was able to speak with Mr. Wilson he related to me the
conversation that he had with my husband, saying that he wanted
the check because what “we” were planning was illegal. At that
point I told Mr. Wilson that the check was in the possession of
my bank, that nothing was going to be done with the check,
regardless of what conversation he had with my husband. I
reminded him that I was going out of town that day and when I
returned we could all sit down and discuss what was to be done
with the check. Mr. Wilson informed me that by putting the check
in the bank I had did something illegal and that it would not
clear in my bank, to which I told him that I did not know that
it was illegal to deposit the check, but since it would not
clear anyway there was no problem with misuse of the funds, that
he seemed to be insinuating, but at least the check was safe. I
told him that I did not feel comfortable carrying it to Indiana
nor leaving it unsecured, and that we really needed to talk
before he deposited the check. Mr. Wilson then agreed that as
long as the check was secured and no activity would be put on it
he was satisfied.
Then, while I was in Indiana I received a call from my husband
upset because of a letter he received from Mr. Wilson, the
letter to you, stating that we had refused to forward the check
to him for deposit. Mr. Wilson indicated that both myself and my
husband refused to forward the check to him, that we refused to
adhere to the fee agreement and requesting that the check be
stopped.
Ms. Perry, my issue is not with the checked being stopped, but I
take great offense to the fact that Mr. Wilson submitted a false
statement in that he stated that we refused to pay his fee or
adhere to the fee agreement. My conversation with Mr. Wilson
left no doubt that I fully intended to pay him. In fact, we have
a recorded message on our answering machine where Mr. Wilson
stated himself, in an attempt to explain his position, that
although we agreed to pay the agreed fee, when the check was
deposited, we took control of the check out of his hands which
was illegal and he was having it stopped. That he is the
attorney and he will be in control of the disbursement of the
check.
Ms. Perry I did not know Mr. Wilson before he married my
coworker. I trusted him as my attorney strictly because of my
relationship with his wife, who is a dear and loved friend, who
asked me to allow her husband to represent me. I am a Christian
and by Mr. Wilson’s admission so is he. I have dealt with Mr.
Wilson throughout this case as such. I have done everything he
has requested of me, even though I felt that at times his
handling of the case was less than professional. He has dealt
with me, and only me, from the beginning of this case. I have
been forth right and honest with him. For him to now paint me,
not only as a liar, but a thief in your sight and in the sight
of the State Farm attorney distresses me in a way that no amount
of words in a letter can express. Yes we have questions we need
answered which is our right. But Mr. Wilson’s statements to you
as to why he wanted the check stopped are untrue.
Sincerely
Willy Luckett-Brockenbrough

After reading the Philadephia Gay News article on the Levy story,
I'm saddened that Dennis Urban is only getting a "handslap"
verdict. I, and others that chat in online chatrooms have seen
the way Dennis Urban a.k.a. "Denn_Ne" shows his dimeanor. Without
knowing the exact text, I've seen Dennis Urban threaten people
with "You better fear me" or "If I ever get my hands on you"
types of remarks. I've met Urban in the spring of 2000, and found
him distateful and brattish. Any anyone from the chatrooms he
harrased would agree that the guy has a menacing online
personality. I just wish I'd have copied and saved the chatroom
text from 2 years ago to show you... signed, A concerned gay

Dear Guardian of Philadelphia Parks:
I will make this short in the hope that you will take a moment to
read it.
As a native Philadelphian I have always regarded the park
system as defining a very special city. As a child, my family
would take Sunday strolls in Fairmount Park; as a Boy Scout, we
would take hikes along the Wissahickon; and where I would, later
as a parent, take my daughters for riding lessons; and where my
aging father would sit on a bench by the stream and adore his
beautiful grandchildren I live on a city block that ends at Morris
Park, where my daughters played when they were very young. And
now my grandchildren have the benefits of the parks.
I strongly urge you to provide the leadership required to
have and grow a healthy park system by supporting our slate of
Fairmount Park Commissioner candidates: ED BRONSTEIN, MICHAEL
DiBERARDINIS, DEBRA WOLF GOLDSTEIN, JOSEPH M MANKO, DAVID D. POPE,
DORIS A. SMITH, AND WILLIAM A. WILSON.
Thank you for your attention.

of Candidates. Any one of the coalition, Ed Bronstein, Michael
DeBerardinis, Debra Wolf Goldstein, Joseph M. Manko, David P.
Pope, Doris A. Smith, or William A. Wilson, would be an excellent
choice for the existing vacancies.
As a member of the Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers, I have
seen first hand how the Wissahickon Park area has been allowed to
suffer from neglect and misuse. I have also seen the need for a
strong and visionary leadership to bring guidance and support for
the many grass roots organizations, such as the WRV, which are
trying to restore the Park to its former splendor.
Furthermore, it is equally vital to select a commission which
will find creative ways to manage the "confusing overlap of
mission between the Park Commission and the city's Recreation
Department" (Phil. Inquirer 5/14/02)

parks. I can't imagine living in a big city like Philadelphia
and not having the parks. As a late middle-age adult, I still
spend many evenings and Sunday afternoons strolling through the
parks. Forbidden Drive is such a treasure!! We need strong good
leadership tho maintain and preserve the lovely parks for future
generations. They are as important of an infrastructure to the
city as the big sky scrapers in center city. They need the same
attention!

Dear Guardian of Philadelphia's Parks:
The condition and quality of the park system - particularly our
'natural' park environments of Pennypack and Wissahickon - are
very important to me. They are, perhaps, the most compelling
reason for me to stay, and pay taxes, in Philadelphia.
It is evident that insufficient budgets, languishing stewardship
and etraordinary popularity have taken their toll on all our
parks over the past decade or so. We need to act quickly to
restore a balance, even if it means sacrificing some of our
accustomed freedoms of access and use.
Only a dedicated, educated board of conservators can successfully
manage the difficult task of healing these precious resources,
perhaps the best examples of urban parkland in the US.
I believe the Coalition slate of candidates, specifically:
Michael DiBerardinis
Doris A. Smith
Ed Bronstein
David P. Pope
Debra Wolf Goldstein
William A. Wilson
Joseph M. Manko
have both the qualifications and the vision equal to this task.
Please show that you care by doing all you can to ensure that the
best possible appointments are made. It will be a decision that
accrues benefits across the generations.
Thank you.

Dear Guardian of Philadelphia Parks:
I am writing to express my support for the slate of seven
candidates for Fairmount Park Commission recommended by Friends
of Philadelphia Parks. These seven people,Ed Bronstein, Michael
DiBerardinis, Debra Wolf Goldstein, Joseph M. Manko, David P.
Pope, Doris A. Smith, and William A. Wilson, are highly
qualified. Together they represent the whole of our community and
each individual will bring excellent and needed skills to the
commission.
Fairmount Park is a treasure to be shared by the entire city. No
other resource is so widely utilized and enjoyed. I work at the
University of Pennsylvania with many students and fellows who
arrive in Philadelphia from other places around the world and the
many branches of the park continue to be the attraction that I
describe enthusiastically to everyone, regardless of the kind of
recreation they desire. Hiking trails along the Wissahickon
Gorge, festivals on Eakins Oval, fireworks at the art museum,
beautiful public art, historic mansions, roller blading, horse
riding...the list extends seemingly infinitely. The people on
this slate will serve with insight, sensitivity and dedication to
help us preserve this gem of a park system.

Ed Bronstein, Michael DiBerardinis, Debra Wolf Goldstein, Joseph

they can get. Please consider these candidates when you make
your selections.
