Subject:   Your support for OUR Party is requested, please...

Dear Representative Caltagirone,

I received an email today that contained the following excerpt:

"Rep. Thomas Caltagirone has told members of the House and the
Reading Eagle that he will betray the wishes of the people on
Tuesday by voting for the Republican Speaker of the House John
Perzel. If Caltagirone follows through on his threat, there
will be no chance of a progressive agenda in Harrisburg for the
next two years because the Speaker controls which bills get
voted on."

I found and read the article in the on-line version of the
Reading Eagle. I can understand your motivation for your
contemplated action, but the effect that such a vote would have
on the Pennsylvania Legislature far outweighs any benefits that
your "protest vote" would have.

Your action would directly affect my representation in
Harrisburg, even though I am not a direct constituent of
yours. Consequently, I request that you reexamine your
position on this matter. When it comes to the House
Organization, EVERY voter in Pennsylvania is your constituent.
Please remember that. As a 30 year member of the Assembly, you
have a responsibility to us all.

I am a "New" Democrat. I am a First Term Democratic
Committeeman working from within the Party. At 57, I have
years behind me and years ahead of me to contribute, as do you.

Vote with our party, please. Reform from within, not by hog-
tying our Party in Harrisburg.
