Subject:   Contact your state officials

Why can't we do away with state car inspections once a year and
go to every other year? Also do away with emissions inspection
since cars built today are far advanced than they were years ago.
And while we're at it do away with the nine tenths of a cent
added onto the price of gas. It's just a selling ploy. Any
thoughts?

Subject:   All neighborhoods deserve protection from casinos

Dear Senator Fumo:

Speaking as a fourth generation Philadelphian, I am 100% opposed
to any new casinos being introduced to this city that will be
located less than 1500 ft. from:

1) Any existing residential communities
2) Areas of the city better suitable for new residential
development
3) Public parks and playgrounds
4) Schools and houses of worship
5) Historic areas
6) Industrial areas (raw materials production, manufacturing,
warehousing and shipping)
7) Areas of the city better suitable for reindustrialization
(raw materials production, manufacturing, warehousing and
shipping)

As a start, therefore, I request that you please introduce your
buffer bill before you and your fellow senators recess for
summer. And because the proposed SugarHouse Casino has been
designated to rise up in an area of the city far better suitable
for new industrial development, I ask that you please not exempt
this from your bill. That particular area of the city has a very
high blue collar population whose best interests will not be
served if a casino rise up there in lieu of what would be far
more fitting. Thank you for your time and consideration
pertaining to this matter.

Respectfully,

Stephen E. Williams

Subject:   No Casinos Here and A Referendum for the Citizens of PA

Dear John Perzel,

Though I have not voted Republican since 1980, I will be voting
and campaigning in my South Philadelphia neighborhood for Lynn
Swann based on the single issue of Casino Gambling. Yes, I will
vote and bring voters to the polls to defeat any politician who
supports casino gambling in the State of Pennsylvania.

I disagree with Swann on many other issues and do recall that
Rendell always desired to subject casino gambling on the
citizens of Pennsylvania. However, now that this has become a
POTENTIAL reality and as a resident of Pennsport where the
Foxwoods Casino MAY be located, I see this as a destructive
occurrence that will tear the fabric of our neighborhood. I am
disgusted by the whole process and the evidence that greed is
prevailing with little benefit to the residents of Pennsylvania
and an extreme negative impact on our unique neighborhood.
Twenty eight years after casino gambling was introduced to
Atlantic City, it is still a dreadful place. At least New Jersey
and other states put the decision to referendum. Rendell, Fumo,
Keller, DiCicco and yourself are not representing me or my
neighbors. John Dougherty does not represent Pennsport and
appears to only be seeking to line his own pockets.

Repeal the casino act and put it to state referendum. Whatever
the outcome, give the citizens, We the People, our rightful
place at the table.

If you have ethics and a conscience, it is the only right thing
to do. I hope this message will make it to your attention. I am
speaking for a segment of the electorate that is deeply angered
by this issue and the way it is being handled.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Resident
Pennsport, Phila.

Dear Mr. Perzel,

Please work to restore the power of our representatives to use
riparian rights to negotiate with casinos.

Representative Perzel, Representative Cohen, Representative
DeWeese, Senator Fumo, Representative Keller, Governor Rendell,
Representative Smith, Representative Veon

To my elected officials:

Please VOTE NO to SB 862.

I am extremely upset that our beautiful waterfront will be
destroyed, as well as our riverfront neighborhoods. Instead of
looking to Alantic City for inspiration, check out Baltimore Harbor.

Please VOTE NO to SB 862.

Subject:   raparian rights/casinos

Dear Rep. Perzel:

I am outraged by Senator Fumo's dirty tricks and I hope you
won't let him get away with it!

Please use your leadership to defeat SB862, which strips our
state representatives of their ability to provide or withold
riparian rights as leverage when negotiating with casino
developers.

Subject:   Please restore state rep's riparian rights against casinos

Please don't impair our state's representatives rights vis-a-
vis riparian rights towards the waters by the proposed casino
buildings. Please ensure that our state representatives have
full rights to exercise against businesses that may not have
Philadelphia and its residents in the best of intentions. Thank
you.

Subject:

I am very glad that zoning power was restored to Philadelphia in
SB 862. However, I am not pleased about the loss of riparian
rights for our representatives. Please don't allow this bill to
pass with the loss of these rights. Casinos shouldn't decide what
is right for our city; we the citizens should, through the voices
of our elected officials.

I don't want to block the casinos, I just want them to have
sensible designs. It's not Philadelphia's fault that state
government didn't go with an intelligent plan like riverboats
(about as unobtrusive as casinos could get), or at least tax them
at a low enough level that they'd be willing to have sensible
designs from the start.

Please do the right thing. Protect Philadelphia's character.

Please remove the provision to strip the riparian rights of our
representatives. This authority gives us an additional voice

affected by the casinos and gives our representatives key
abilities. Remove this provision!

Subject:   SB862

Dear Senator Perzel:

I am writing to voice my disgust with the passage of this odious
bill. It is clear from the political maneuvers we have seen that
all agree that this is a shameful piece of legislation and should
not have been passed. Clearly interests that are larger than the
people of Philadelphia have aligned to allow this to happen and
as with the pay increase recently withdrawn, there will be
consequences for this unconscionable misgovernance.

I implore you to consider restoring riparian rights to the honest
legislators who are willing to represent their constituents.

Subject:   SB 862

Dear Representative Perzel:

We elect state representatives to do just that - represent us
in issues before the state government. If you do not make an
effort to defeat SB 862 aas currently written, you remove our
elected voices. I served in the military to protect our
freedoms and form of government and the house is prepared to
possibly take it away? We have a right to be heard and we will
be heard. If not now, than certainly on election day!

Subject:   Don't give away valuable riparian rights to slot owners

Mr. Perzel,

As the leader of the PA House of Representatives you have the
power to stop the huge outrageous give-away of extremely
valuable riparian rights along the Delaware River (and other PA
rivers) which the current (10/24/06) version of SB 862 would
allow. I urge you to exercise that power quickly and I know
that many other honest hard working residents - taxpayers and
voters all-want you to do so too.

We are so fed up with this whole casino boondoggle that we
hardly know where to turn. Please protect us against the casino
juggernaut which will destroy the quality of life -and perhaps
even destoy our houses thru eminent domaine abuse as casino off-
ramps expand I95-in the riverfront neighborhoods.

Thank you,

Subject:   Riparian rights in Philadelphia

Dear Representative Perzel:
I am sure that, as a Philadelphian, you dread as much as I do
what the powerful casinos can do to our beautiful but never
developed waterfront. They need riparian rights to build, and
our representatives, if you return this power to them, can
negotiate with leverage for a more beautiful environment that
would please and serve all the city residents. I urge you to do
the right thing and protect our city against the casinod
evelopers who do not care for it, except as a source of profit.
Thank you for your consideration.

Rep. Perzel-

Don't strip our state reps of riparian rights. we riverward
residents (and all philadelphians) need riparian rights as
leverage against the casinos.

Do the right thing for the working middle class. don't let us
be sold out by rich people looking to acquire at the expense of
us.

Subject:   Let the House retain its authority to grant or withhold riparian rights!

Dear Rep. Perzel,

I believe that the power to withhold or provide riparian rights
should remain in the hands of our elected state representatives.
I'm asking you to use your power to remove the provision to SB
862 that alters how these rights are granted. Please don't make
it any easier for the casinos to come into our neighborhoods and
destroy what we've worked years to achieve. Riparian rights are
our last leverage against these unwelcome monstrosities. Please
let our representatives retain their power over riparian rights.

Dear Rep. Perzel,

I prefer that the power to withhold or provide riparian rights
remain in the hands of our elected state representatives. Please
use your power to remove the provision to SB 862 that alters
these rights. Additionally, I think the vote SB 862 should lead
a House session so that it gets the attention it deserves.

Subject:   Riparian rights for our representives.

Dear Mr. John M. Perzel.
Please ensure that our state representatives keep their Riparian
rights over our water ways, to ensure that the voice of the
people that they represent has its place in the discussions and
negotiations with the Casino industry as they attempt to
establish businesses on our water ways.

No private business or industry should have total control over
the situation at hand, and the future of our beautiful city is at
risk if the control of the development of that land is not public
and given proper oversight.

Thank you for protecting the rights of the citizens of PA and the
City of Philadelphia.

Subject:   Show us the Senate Amendment to SB 862!

Dear Senator Fumo:

On Monday the state Senate will vote on a new set of changes to
SenateBill 862, including a provision which will restore zoning
andregulatory power over the casinos to the City. However, even
though avote is just 3 days off, the public has yet to see the
actualamendment that the Senators intend to pass on Monday.

We need to see that amendment. The legal language protecting
our rights is complicated, important andfragile. We need to
verify for ourselves that this amendment does whatthe Senator
says it does. We can't just take your word for it.

Sincerely,

Erik Raske
