As a consequence of Governor Rendell's reduction in funds for
public libraries, the Nuremberg Branch of the Hazleton Public
Library System has had its funding sharply reduced to the point
that it is to be closed. Local citizens have been rallying to
independently fund a library for themselves. Among efforts to
raise money are solicitation of residents, appealing to area
businesses, and seeking of grants through area legislators.
Our efforts have produced nearly enough funds to begin
construction of a library building. We don't yet have quite
enough funds, and ask what is the procedure for requesting your
assistance in obtaining a grant for this purpose from the
Commonwealth treasury.
